A fridge van works best when it’s built around how you work. These are the extras we fit as part of a conversion. Some, like electric standby and a recessed condenser pod, have to be specified before the conversion starts, so tell us how you’ll use the van at the start and we’ll spec it properly.
Extras we fit
Recessed condenser pod
Sits the refrigeration unit down into the roofline instead of on top of it. The van is lower for car parks and height barriers, and tidier on the road, which helps fuel economy, and neater to look at. It must be specified before the conversion. More on the recessed condenser pod.
Electric standby
A different refrigeration unit from the standard road-only system, which can also run from a mains supply with the engine off, when the van is parked up overnight or at an event. It must be specified before the conversion. Do you need electric standby?
Freezer slab side door
Essential on a freezer van that has to hold -18°C or below with side access. The insulation a freezer needs is too thick to fit to a standard sliding side door, so a thicker, sealed slab door takes its place.
Rear pod doors
Modular rear pod doors are what a deep freezer needs to hold down to −25°C, together with a slab side door or the side door shut off. Any freezer van we sell can be built this way.
Fixed bulkhead
A fixed partition that divides the van into two load areas: for carrying frozen and chilled products together, or for keeping products apart to avoid contamination.
Moveable bulkhead
A partition you can move, so you can change the size of each compartment to suit the day’s deliveries. It lets you run two different temperatures at once, or keep products apart.
Side and rear door curtains
Strip curtains across the doorways help hold the temperature while the doors are open. Really effective on multi-drop rounds, in chiller and freezer vans alike.
Pallet protection runners
Strips of aluminium fixed to the floor, so pallets and crates slide over them instead of damaging the floor as you load and unload.
T-bar protection bumper
A solid metal panel that protects the back of the van, mainly when it’s loaded by forklift.
Load temperature recorder
Prints a receipt as evidence that the goods were held at the right temperature in transit, for your own records or for customers who ask.
Load lock restraint
Metal tracks bolted to the sides of the load space, with spring-loaded poles that lock into them, to stop the load moving in transit.
Door lips and drain hole
Essential for seafood. Fish juices are highly corrosive and quickly cause rust if they reach the door seals and side door runners. A door lip keeps them in, and a drain hole lets them out properly.
Sign writing
Custom vinyl graphics on the outside of the van, from a small logo to a full wrap, so the van advertises your business wherever it goes.
Shelving
We can design shelving into the conversion, fixed or folding, to match exactly how you load and unload.
