GRV4FridgeVans and the Government Electric Grant
At GRV4FridgeVans, we have been closely monitoring the UK government’s incentive scheme that aims to promote the widespread use of electric vans and trucks.
Nicknamed the ‘Plug In Grant’, the scheme is headed up by the Office of Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) department. The grant gives a 20% discount off the purchase price of fully electric and plug-in hybrid van and truck models — up to a value of £8,000.
Electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles have low CO2 emissions, typically less than 75g/km. And some can travel up to 16km (10 miles) with zero emissions. Just some popular models include BD Auto eTraffic, Peugeot ePartner, and Ford Transit Custom PHEV.
Larger vans and trucks
As well as incentives for small and mid-sized vans, large vans and trucks are also covered by the scheme. Larger low emission vans can handle the same capacity as standard Euro VI vehicles and produce 50% less CO2. Some models, like the BD Auto eDucato (4.25 tonnes) and FUSO eCanter can travel 16km (10 miles) with zero emissions.
This is great news for hauliers and companies with fleets of vans who rely on logistics to complete their day-to-day tasks. For larger low emission vans and trucks, the government will pay 20% of the purchase price on the first 200 orders — up to a maximum value of £20,000. Further orders have a maximum value of £8,000.
Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme
Another incentive called the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) gives individuals a £350 grant to put towards the cost of installing an electrical charging point at home. The only catch is not everyone is eligible. Off-street parking is required and the date of installation must be within 4 months of the registration date.
GRV4FridgeVans & Low Emission Vehicles
We are excited to announce that from next week, we will have a New Transit Custom Plug-in Hybrid — the innovative eco-friendly solution for refrigerated vehicles.
This exciting plug-in hybrid van has impressive battery life, even with a refrigerated unit attached.
It can handle enough miles to complete all daily deliveries on a single charge. And it will incur no ULEZ or LEZ charges in London, helping to keep costs low.
At GRV4FridgeVans, we have a keen interest in the rapid development and potential widespread rollout of low emission refrigerated vans. Our staff continue to research the industry closely.
We are happy to answer questions and give more information to anyone who may be interested in acquiring a low emission commercial vehicle.
