- Temperature Chiller for dairy and fresh food; freezer for frozen
- Layout Chilled and frozen in one van, with a bulkhead
- Worth adding Curtains, shelving, a side door
Chiller, freezer or dual-temperature
Milk, cheese, yoghurt and fresh food travel in a chiller van at 0 to 5°C; frozen food must be kept at −18°C or colder, so it needs deep freeze, down to −25°C. If your round carries both, a bulkhead splits the load space into a chilled and a frozen compartment, and a moveable bulkhead lets you change the split to suit the day’s orders.
Options for multi-drop rounds
- Side and rear door curtains, to hold the temperature while the doors are open, drop after drop.
- Shelving, fixed or foldable, for crates and totes.
- A side loading door, so you can reach the front of the load without unloading the back.
- Load lock rails, bolted along the sides, to keep crates secure.
- Door lips and a drain hole, so spills can be washed out.
- Load temperature recorder, which prints a receipt as evidence the load was held at the right temperature on the way.

Small, medium or large
A small van suits doorstep rounds in town; a medium or large van suits deliveries to shops. Small vans include the Mercedes Citan and Ford Transit Connect; medium vans the Ford Transit Custom, Renault Trafic and Mercedes Vito; and large vans the Mercedes Sprinter, Ford Transit, Renault Master and Citroën Relay. We help you choose by the inside size after conversion and the payload, not just the size of the van.
