Chiller or freezer?
Fresh fish and shellfish go in a chiller van, at 0 to 5°C. Frozen fish, or smoked products you keep frozen, must be kept at −18°C or colder, so they need deep freeze, down to −25°C. If you carry both, a bulkhead between a chilled and a frozen compartment means one van can do the whole round.
Built to be washed down
Every conversion has a hygienic, easy-to-clean interior. Fish juices are corrosive, so for fish we recommend door lips, which stop them getting into the door seals and side door runners, and a drain hole, so ice melt and wash-down water run out of the load floor instead of sitting in the van.
Options that suit fish and seafood
- Door lips and a drain hole, for ice melt, fish juices and washing out.
- Aluminium on the wheel arches, to protect them from fish boxes and make them easier to clean.
- Side and rear door curtains, to hold the temperature on every drop.
- Fixed or moveable bulkhead, to keep fish apart from other stock, or chilled apart from frozen.
- Load lock rails, bolted along the sides, to stop boxes sliding.
- Load temperature recorder, which prints a receipt as evidence the load was held at the right temperature on the way.
- A calibration certificate for the temperature display, for your food safety paperwork.

Finance is available for business customers from a £500 +VAT deposit, subject to status, and we take part exchanges.
