Butchers’ fridge vans, built for meat.

Whether you run a high-street shop, a wholesale round to restaurants and pubs, or a farm shop doing home deliveries, you need a van that keeps meat cold from the cutting room to the customer's door, on every drop of the day.

  • Temperature Chiller, 0 to 5°C; a freezer for frozen lines
  • Size Small for local deliveries, medium or large for wholesale
  • Worth adding Drain hole, door curtains, a bulkhead

Chiller vans built for meat

Most butchers choose a chiller van, which holds meat at 0 to 5°C. Every conversion has a fully insulated load space, 50mm thick for a chiller, with a hygienic, easy-to-clean interior and a fridge unit from GAH, Thermo King, Hubbard or Zanotti. If you carry frozen lines as well, we can supply a freezer van, or split the load space with a bulkhead so chilled and frozen travel in the one van.

Options that suit a butcher’s round

  • Drain hole, so the load floor can be washed out properly at the end of the day.
  • Side and rear door curtains, to hold the temperature while the doors are open on each drop.
  • Fixed or moveable bulkhead, to split the load space, for example meat at the back and dry goods at the front.
  • Load lock rails, bolted along the sides, to strap trays and crates in place.
  • A side loading door, so you can reach the front of the load without unloading the back.
  • Load temperature recorder, which prints a receipt as evidence the load was held at the right temperature on the way.
  • A calibration certificate for the temperature display, for your food safety paperwork.
  • LED lights, in the load space, for early-morning loading.

Small, medium or large

A small van suits a shop doing local deliveries; wholesale butchers carrying full loads to trade customers usually go medium or large. Small vans include the Mercedes Citan and Ford Transit Connect; medium vans the Ford Transit Custom, Renault Trafic and Mercedes Vito; and large vans the Mercedes Sprinter, Ford Transit, Renault Master and Citroën Relay. Meat is heavy, so we help you choose by the inside size after conversion and the payload, not just the size of the van.
