Catering delivery vans, chilled and ambient.

Caterers rarely carry just one thing. A van for catering and food service often needs a chilled section for food and an ambient one for equipment and dry goods, laid out the way you load and serve. We'll match the van, the layout and the fridge unit to the job.

  • Temperature Chiller, 0 to 5°C, for most catering
  • Layout Chilled and ambient, split by a bulkhead
  • Worth adding Shelving, curtains, electric standby

Chilled and ambient in one van

A chiller van, at 0 to 5°C, suits most catering. Where you need an ambient section too, a bulkhead divides the load space in two. A fixed bulkhead stays put; a moveable one lets you change the size of each compartment to suit the job.

The layout is up to you. One option puts the ambient section at the back, behind the rear doors, and the chilled section at the front, reached through the side door: popular with businesses selling from the van. Another puts the chilled section at the back with a small ambient section at the front. Tell us how you load and unload, and we’ll suggest the layout that suits.

Options that suit caterers

  • Shelving, fixed or foldable, built around what you carry.
  • Fixed or moveable bulkhead, for the chilled and ambient sections.
  • Side and rear door curtains, to hold the temperature while you unload at a venue.
  • Electric standby, so the fridge can run with the engine off while the van is parked, for example loaded the night before an event. It has to be specified before the conversion, as it can’t be added afterwards.
  • Load lock rails, bolted along the sides, to keep boxes and equipment secure.
  • Sign writing, from a small logo to a full wrap, so the van advertises your business wherever it goes.

The right size

We help you choose by the inside size after conversion and the payload, not just the size of the van. Small vans include the Mercedes Citan and Ford Transit Connect; medium vans the Ford Transit Custom, Renault Trafic and Mercedes Vito; and large vans the Mercedes Sprinter, Ford Transit, Renault Master and Citroën Relay.

Do you need electric standby on a fridge van?
